The Dayton Fazl-i-Umar Mosque is the first purpose built mosque in Ohio. It has the distinction of being the first mosque built in the United States by African American converts to Islam.
Fazle Umar Masjid, formally known as the Dayton Mosque, was the first building to be constructed as a mosque in America by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community during 1955-1965. It has been renovated and reconstructed in 2011/2012. It was inagurated by Khalifa tul Messiah the 5th on the 18 June 2012 on his visit to the USA.
